Flag Peek
A flag under six tiles. Name it before they all lift.
What it is
A flag hidden under six tiles. You get five guesses, and each wrong one lifts another tile.
How to play
- One tile is already lifted when the round starts.
- Type a country and press Enter.
- A wrong guess turns over the next tile and records your guess with its flag, the distance to the answer and an arrow pointing towards it.
- Name the flag before the last tile lifts. If the flag is fully uncovered, the round is over.
Hardest part last
The tiles don't lift in a random order. When the round starts, the game reads the flag's pixels and scores each of the six sections by how much it gives away, how many distinct colours it holds and how much fine detail sits in it. Plain blocks of colour lift first and the telling part lifts last. On the flag of Taiwan the plain red field goes first and the blue canton with its white sun is the last thing you see; on the United States it's the stripes first and the stars last; on Brazil, the corners before the globe.
The distance clue
Every wrong guess is more than a miss. It tells you how many kilometres away that country is from the answer and which direction to head, so even a bad guess narrows the world.
Tips
Read the colours before the shapes. A first tile of plain red narrows things a lot less than a first tile containing two colours meeting at an angle, a diagonal is rare enough to be worth remembering. And use the distance readout properly: two guesses on opposite sides of the world will triangulate the answer's continent between them.
