Border Walk
Cross from one country to another over land, on a bare globe.
What it is
The hardest game in Globely. You're given two countries and you have to get from one to the other over land, naming the countries you pass through, with nothing on screen to help you.
How to play
- The header shows the trip, for example North Macedonia → China.
- Type a country that shares a land border with somewhere already on your trail.
- It appears on the globe in green, the newest one in gold, and the planet turns to face it.
- Keep going until you reach the destination.
The bare globe
There's no map to read. The globe shows only meridians and parallels, just enough to tell you where you are on the planet, and the countries you've named. Everything else is ocean-dark. Drag to spin it, pinch or scroll to come closer.
The trail rule
A new country only has to border something you've already walked, not the last one you named. That means a wrong turn costs you a step but never strands you: if you wander into a dead end, you can carry on from any earlier country in the trail.
Par
Every trip shows a par, the smallest number of borders that connects the two countries. Trips are generated so par is between four and six. Matching par means you found a shortest route; going over means you got there the long way. Give up and the globe walks the shortest remaining route for you, one country at a time.
Tips
Think in corridors, not countries. Europe to East Asia almost always goes through either Russia or the Turkey–Iran–Central Asia line. Africa to Europe has exactly one land crossing worth knowing: Egypt into Israel. And remember that a country with many neighbours, such as Russia, China, Brazil or Germany, is a hub worth reaching early.
